Adult Catechumenate (R.C.I.A.): Adults journey with parishioners and the R.C.I.A. Team in exploring whether participation in the Roman Catholic Church is where God is calling him/her. The process involves spiritual growth and discernment, knowing Jesus personally, learning about Church doctrine, beliefs, traditions and practices, and how to live as a Catholic in today's world. Entrance into the church usually takes place during the Easter Vigil, depending upon the faith journey of the individual and parish process, with Baptism or Profession of Faith, Confirmation and Eucharist. Parishioners are invited to assist in this ministry as a sponsor, with prayers and hospitality. Contact Pat Leach by

Catholics Come Home: There is a yearning in the hearts of many inactive Catholics to return to the Church. It is alright to come back, because you miss Mass, Holy Communion. Inactive Catholics will say: "I just stopped going." "I became a non-practicing Catholic." "I always felt I was a Catholic." You are longing for reassurance of belonging and participating in the Catholic Church. There are Church failures, human failures, missteps, errors and wrong judgment. Jesus said in Matthew 10:5, "Go after the lost sheep." The first step to go back is the most difficult one. But this is the Church you belong to. We welcome you home.

If you have been away from the church or are drifting away from it, if you've been hurt by tCharlotte Amatohe church, or are confused or angry because of your Catholic experience, please consider our invitation to come and talk with us.

ACTS Retreat:  An ACTS, women's or men's, retreat is a three-day/three-night Catholic lay retreat presented by fellow Catholics from the Diocese of Lubbock. The retreat is held at Mercy Retreat Center and begins on Thursday evening and ends the following Sunday with a celebration Mass and pot luck supper. Talks, worship services and activities during the retreat focus on Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service, from which the ACTS acronym is derived. Holy Scripture and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church are the guides for the retreats. Each retreat is conducted by a "retreat team" composed of 20-30 individuals who have attended prior ACTS retreats. Chosen by the retreat director, the team organizes the retreat, conducts the retreat talks and activities and ministers to the needs of the participants during the retreat weekend. Additionally, the Lubbock ACTS Community meet quarterly at a parish in the diocese for Mass and pot luck supper. Many smaller faith sharing and scripture study groups meet on a regular basis.  Because space is limited to 40 participants, retreats fill up quickly. Registration forms can be downloaded at www.actscommunityoflubbock.org  and mailed in. To learn more about an ACTS retreat, a reunion group or other upcoming ACTS retreats or gatherings, please contact CTKC parishioner, Renée Underwood, 794-2502, ru1390@yahoo.com.
